R.B. Kitaj: Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education

The exhibition ‘R.B. Kitaj: A Jew Etc., Etc’ is an overview of the artist’s oeuvre and includes 16 of his oil paintings and four drawings. On display are works from the last two decades of the Kitaj’s life and reflect his relationship with Judaism and the art historical canon.  The exhibition explores a period in the Kitaj’s life when he focused on his identity as a Jew, which was influential to the creation of an extensive body of work around himself, his late wife, American artist Sandra Fisher, and historic personalities such as Franz Kafka, Walter Benjamin, and Gershom Scholem.
