Lydia Gifford: The Valerie Beston Artists’ Trust Prizewinner 2008

15 September 2009 - 17 September 2009

Press Release

Marlborough is pleased to present the work of Lydia Gifford, winner of The Valerie Beston Artists’ Trust Prize 2008.

“I work with resonance, the placement of objects, the activation of objects in a space”. Lydia uses a variety of materials, typically found objects, MDF, paper, paint, graphite and light, assembled to create a dialogue between the individual elements and the space they occupy, with the onlooker also at times a participant. She strives to retain the character of the materials, making use of their inherent properties, noting for instance the way graphite falls, to define space.
