13 September 2004 - 16 October 2004

Press Release

Artist Info

In 2003 Simon Marsh and Mike Taylor invited Bill Jacklin to the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica, Venice for a residency in printmaking. It provided a perfect opportunity for Jacklin, who initially trained in printmaking and for whom prints have always been an important part of his artistic output. In addition it gave him time to absorb and survey aspects of Venice. Though the topographies of the cities he has portrayed vary enormously, it is the essence of the metropolis that interests him – the palpable energy thriving in these urban environments that he wishes to capture and express.
